I am trying to send a txt msg to a number like 55433 but I am not able to enter it. The pearl makes me select from my phone book. There is supposed to be an option for a "one-time" entry but I cannot seem to get to it.

Weird. Try a battery pull while the phone is on... If that dopesnt work, load it up in DM, to a backup/restore to backup all ur data, then restore it to factory using the option on ur BB. Then load it back up n try it
