When I am not using a headset (just the 8130 by itself) how do I turn on the speaker phone and voice dial a phone number?

With mine I just press the voice dial button and it turns on the speaker phone until the call connects.

OK, then what key on the phone are you using to initiate voice dialing? Hopefully you're not going to tell me to work my way through the menus to initiate voice dialing. Thanks for the help, Bill

left side convenience key is the default voice dialing button. I have not had any issues with the call staying on speaker, usually it just is on speaker while ringing. if you want to use Speakerphone while talking the OP key is the shortcut key during a call.

Never mind. Your post got me to looking again. When I first got the phone I disabled the voice dial button on the side because I did not want it turning on when I was just handling the phone. I just reassigned it and now, of course, everything leaps to life. Again, thanks for all your help.

By default, the Convenience Key on I believe the left side of the Pearl is configured to launch VAD.

You can view/change those settings in Options>Screen/Keyboard.
