Angry Can't Synch my Pearl 8130

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

I have a new Pearl 8120 (OS 4.3.067). I've downloaded the latest Desktop software (v4.3.015), but I can't get my blackberry to sync.

I can connect the device and Blackberry Desktop says its connected. It will even let me open Application Loader and I can see the apps installed on it. However, when I go into Synchronise and select Configure Synch... it comes up with the following message:

"Failed to connect to the device. Please make sure that the device i properly connected and try again"

There's no problem with the cable (I use it for my other work Blackberry, and I can view the media card as a drive and can see the apps as per above). I've searched in the forums and can't find anyone with a similiar problem. Does anyone have any suggestions? One thing which I've seen suggested to a different problem is to downgrade to the previous Blackberry Desktop version?

The blackberry is of somewhat limited use if I can't synch it!

Thanks,
Bogman

Bogman, can you do a backup from Desktop Manager?

And you didn't mention what application on your PC you are attempting to sync with... Outlook? What version?

Default RE: Can't Synch my Pearl 8130

Hi - thanks for the response. When I got the Pearl out of the box, I successfully used the Switch Device Wizard. This successfully backed up my old Curve and transferred all my data and programs to the new Pearl. So, I have at least got all my contacts etc..

I have just tried a backup, however, I get the following message:

"Could not establish communications with the device. A required application is missing from the device."

To respond to your last question. I want to Synch with Outlook 2002. However, I haven't even been able to get into the Configure Synch screen to set that up!

Thanks,
Bogman

bogman, you might try to uninstall Desktop Manager 4.3 and install instead, Desktop Manager version 4.2, Service Pack 2.

BlackBerry Desktop Manager Downloads - BlackBerryFAQ.com

DM 4.3 is buggy for a lot of people. Let's see if that helps on yours.

Default Can't Synch my Pearl 8130

Hi - I uninstalled Desktop 4.3. I then installed 4.2.2. I had some issues with the install - but it eventually worked and it eventually recognised the Pearl 8120. I'm able to successfully sync! Thanks for your help.

Overall, I'm disappointed with the new Blackberry and the software. As well as this issue, there are a few small issues with the device software also. One of the reasons I've been a big fan of Blackberry is there software and devices is very reliable and just works without issue. I really hope this isn't the start of a trend?

ok, so is the sync issue NOW hitting an error at the beginning of the sync, or what? Same as before?

Hi - apologies - I've just reread my last post above. It should read I am able to successfully sync! I've edited it to correct it. Thanks for all your help!
