Default 8130: Another lost logs thread...

Please Login to Remove!

I've got a sprint 8130, works fine, and I am not a bb newbie. I have about 15MB free and reboot my bb about once every few days, but for some reason my call logs are only dating back about 3-4 days. I've got emails and SMSs back to mid january when I got the phone, but I'm simply not keeping call logs....I've checked the FAQs and all that with keeping memory free, and I think I'm pretty well set, but I can't seem to find out why these logs are just disappearing....

Yahoo Messenger (which rarely runs), Infospace find it, and soft reset are the only things installed. (outside of the manuf load...I still have sprint TV, sprint radio, and the other default stuff. I've deleted BB messenger, and the intro video the day I bought it)

You really should run through the post on memory. Have you delete the non used languages? The help application (After all you have us) and lastly do you have any media on the device pics or music? Even if you have a Media card make sure nothing wound up on the device memory. Once you get it a little higher you should not see the issue again.

Good Luck!

Help is gone, languages are gone, media is on a 1GB card and was put there directly, and the few photos I have on there are on the card as well...it's frustrating since I have 15 mb free!!

can you post your exact file free? options > status > file free, or hold alt + EACE

There is not set limit on when you will start to loose things. I never let my phone get below 18MB. Once you are in Menu>Options>Status hit menu again and post your database sizes.

What about themes? Do you have any third party ones?

where are you checking the call log? go into messages > menu > view folder > call log. see if just the ones in the phone app are being deleted.

I drop down to 9 mb and have yet to loose one thing. I dont know why this is so wide spread. I see the memory dropping for no reason at all. But I have yet to loose a call log or message.

right now I have

free:17695952
total:50462720

I have these installed:
Berry-a-Code
ascendo money
brickbreaker
jivetalk
viigo
tasks
trans green theme

I get 50 to 90 emails a day atleast that many text. I leave Viigo running in the back ground as well as JT and Berry a code.

I know that it sounds crazy but I would consider 15MB low. I know some people can keep it at that level without losing data. I think the device fluctuates quite a bit while using applications. I never let mine get under 18mb. Your databases are not that large there has to be something eating it.

i assume you mean in the call log folder? means they are just being removed from the phone app. not sure why this happens, could be app or theme interferance. but as long as you have them in that folder you should be fine.

I am beginning to think themes may very well be the culprits here. I dont run any custom themes I have one installed only because I won it. When I ran the theme my memory would always drop drastically. Now that I am back to just running the L theme or the VZW standard I dont loose memory near as fast. When running themes I was having to clean memory daily with a battery pull. Now I am down to once every four days. But as I stated I havent lost anything yet. I have been keeping an eye on it just so I could see it happen.

Yeah ironically enough, the theme I am using is the sprint default....

I'm more concerned about my memory. I found/forgot about on demand being on there, but I went ahead and deleted it and ended up with just over 15mb. I also went through the bb faq a few months ago as I have a curve for work and had issues.

change the them then do a battery pull. the call log in the phone app should show the last 20 calls. i would make some calls just to fill it up and then test to see if you lose it again with the default theme.

Is there a way to see which applications are eating up the most memory? I have 14mb free, which seems to indicate I have a lot of applications eating memory, but I'm not sure which ones. I suppose it could be one of these...

facebook
gmail
google maps
minisafe

But that's about all I'm running. The strange thing to me is that I first experienced this memory issue today, and it happened with 12mb free. The email messages that were dumped, though, were not all those with an "older than xx" date, there was a gap in the middle that were dumped. ??
