Default Installing Opera Mini - 02-20-2008, 11:31 PM

Hey guys first post here so cut me some slack haha. I DLed Opera Mini (heard it was a great program for my Pearl) and when I go to install it it goes to the screen and the bar scrolls then i get this screen...

Failed to connect to the Internet

Go to (opera mini site) with your desktop browser or contact your service provider for internet settings.

So what do I have to do to get this thing to work?

Kid, welcome to the BBF!

Set your TCP settings, yet?

Options > Advanced > TCP. APN is www.voicestream.net, leave user and pw blank, save.

You might need to pop the battery out, while the device is powered on, and reboot. Try OM again.

Good luck.

Hope it works.

Let me tell you with OM, it can be loosey-goosey on working the first time. I have had users tell me it "just started working" a day or three later, with no further changes to the settings... so if your's does not work tonight, give it a day, and try again.

ok, bummer. I will work.

Do you have Data Plan?

And here's this link if you need to double-check your TCP settings.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8100 Pearl: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

You're not alone, I've been trying to get Opera Mini to work on my Tmo Pearl for the last month. It keeps trying to connect and throws that same error message. My APN is in place, I've tried battery pulls. I'm posting this msg from my BB, so I obviously have a data plan, but no dice.

Try going to Settings and in the Network section try setting he Protocol to HTTP (or Socket if it is set to HTTP). Save it and try to connect again.
