Im getting ready to purchase a 8130 and I was wndering how well it works with gmail and google calendar?

I also have a question about the web and email attachments.

I know on my old verizon phone the web was something called wap 2.0 ,it was not very good and somewhat cumbersome to use.
Is the web browsing any different with the new 8130?

With gmail can I download attachments,Im a drummer and I receive music videos and also music in word attachments?

Thanks

Allan

yes the 8130 is compatible with gmail and google. as for the browser the 8130 uses an html browser which is similar to the one you use on your computer so it is way better that the 2.0 vzw browser. yes you can download attachments however you are restricted to supported types for the blackberry only. as for word documents you are going to have to buy a third party app that will allow you to view words docs on your blackberry.

yea some file types can not be viewed on the blackberry, hence why i said you may need to get a 3rd party app to view them. if your friends make videos on their verizon phones then have them send it to you in a mms message and you can do the same back to them

You should be able to view Word documents on your BlackBerry. It is editing that is not possible without a 3rd party software package.

The 8130 also works very well with GMail and Google calendar. I have been using Google Sync to make sure that my BB calendar and Google calendar can exchange information.

I was also in the same position of previously owning a phone with Verizon that utilized their Mobile Web 2.0 (WAP). The difference between that and what you receive with the BB data plan and browser are night and day.

You will love it!

mobile GMail isn't great, but its passable. The Google Calendar Sync is quite good, at least for what I've used it for so far. You can have it sync any of your calendars and it seems to sync changes back and forth perfectly.

The BB browser is quite good though. Overall I agree that you'll love it. I just got mine after having a Motorola E815 for just over 2 years.
