my coworker bought a pearl and is there anyway to take the autotext off where it wan't select the letters for you when your typing messages?

turn *SureType* off.
go into a message compose message. press the menu button, scroll down to where it says: enable mulit-tap/ or maybe it says turn off SureType. select and your done

You mean SureType? Yes, it can be disabled but I highly recommend having your coworker learn how to use suretype. Have them type an entire word without looking at the screen.

To turn off suretype, just hit the menu key (when you're typing text) and select "enable multitap."

SureType is FAR better and faster than multitap once you figure out how it works. Type the entire word pressing each button once regardless of the letter you want. Do it without looking at the screen. When you come to the end of the word SureType knows the word. It works VERY well.

thanks for the help. I think she should have got a curve! She bought a pantech duo, and I told her to take it back it was "junk". Then she was going to buy an iphone, again I told her get a blackberry!! It makes sense! haha She is now hooked!!!

She will like suretype but you have to give it a chance and you have to take a few minutes to figure it out. Once you do, it will get better and better. Just make sure she is not backspacing all the time to get the right word. That will mess it up. I can type faster on a SureType keyboard than a qwerty keyboard and with fewer errors. Fact.
