I'm not a BB owner but I'm trying to help out my (60s-ish) mom who is an owner, not very technical, and also five states away.
Mom has a website where she receives email. Her Outlook 2007 is set up as a pop3 account. When she got her Pearl recently she also set up from the CD her Redirector (I think - how do I verify that app is what is running?) so she would receive notices on her Pearl. But then, she says she "went onto her Pearl and ALSO set it up to get her email there" ???!!!??? (Verizon said she would 'have to'???) She doesn't remember what she did (of course) but now her Outlook has stopped working.
Outlook basically says her connection to the server is dropped or times out. So we contacted the company that hosts her website. The website host shows from the server logs that she is trying to retrieve her mail in both pop3 and IMAP formats, and says that's what is screwing up email for her account. She should use one or the other.
Can anyone give me an idea what it is she might have set up on her Pearl, and how I might go about turning that off? From what I understand, she only wants/needs to have Redirector working so that the email stays on the server - she just wants to know when it gets there.
Thanks for any suggestions and help - and I truly apologize for the generic description of the problem. I can relay information and try to narrow things down, but I'm clueless how to go about this.
