If you can't get the DM to recognize the device and the OS I wouldn't wipe the device and start over. Did you install the OS while the BB was plugged in to it? Also, you're sure you downloaded and installed the proper OS for the 8120? Also, you might try rebooting your PC and BB.
It connects to the DM just fine. I'm able to synchronize personal certificates, for example.
I personally did not install the current OS. It looks like an OTB install, but I did buy it from someone who used it for a week.
But I think I'm just gonna have to wipe it and start fresh.
