Where is the ringer volume located, and is there a shortcut to lock the phone?

Hold the * key to lock the phone. Hold the Mute key (on the very top of the device) to put it in standby.

Is it bad for me to ask what good the standby does? Is it really just a power saver/lock device or does it serve some higher purpose that I have yet to see?

I was thinking, maybe it was like a standby like normal things, and I wouldn't get texts, or beeps that I had texts, but I was wrong

It's just a key lock to prevent key presses while in your pocket. The device lock is mainly for use with a password but works without one. I just use standby when I drop it in my pocket. It's much quicker to bring it out of standby than out of lock. A quick tap of the mute key brings it out of standby.

It conserves the battery and locks the keys. It will still notify you of any activities that occur as it normally does.

Lol mister, I knew that cuz I tried it the other day because I was curious =)

I'm thinking then that the standby is safer than just the lock, because people seem to be able to call 911 when the phone is just locked?
