I bought a 8120, the sideloading speed is a lot faster than my frd's blackberry who bought from Rogers a while ago. Is there a upgrade to the hardware design of the pearl?

You are speaking of the sideloading SD Media Card.

Your sideloading card is about the only hardware improvement from the 8100 to the 8110/20/30. Most hardware remains the same. Other improvements are software/OS related.
