Suretype is much better than multi tap just takes a bit to get used too

Okay go into compose message

Press berry/menu button
Select enable multi tap

or option > Screen/keyboard > Input method.

You really should give SureType about two weeks before you give up so soon. There is a 95% chance you will love it after that (and better yet, you will understand it).

That's what I was gonna first say JS but on mine the option isn't in screen/keyboard
