Default voice dialing always on speakerphone?

Using the default left button to activate voice dialing, is there a way to stop it from always being on speakerphone?

Actually, under the Screen/Keyboard option of settings, you can assign the left AND right buttons to other choices.

That I know. I'd like to leave it on the left button, just not have it automatically go into speakerphone mode. I would swear that just the other day I used that button and it wasn't coming through speakerphone to where I had to listen to the prompts as if I was on the phone and then speak into it the same way. Now, every time I hit the left button it comes blasting out in speakerphone. I don't remember changing any settings that might affect that either. Thanks for the reply just the same.

the VAD is setup to be able to use it without holding the device to your head. thats the main purpose and i do not think you can change that. you can change the other volume settings but not the initial prompt

I feel your pain and wish I could make it just come out of the ear speaker too. It woman's voice prompt literally comes BLASTING out of the speakerphone. It's so loud it seems like it's damaging the speaker almost.....it's like distorted it's so loud.
Anyway, I can put up with it. It seems like a lot of people don't use VAD, but I think it's an extremely handy function, especially if you make a quick call while driving. You don't even have to take your eyes off the road once when you have it programmed into the convenience key.

Later,
LTP

If you have a bluetooth headset turned on, or a headset plugged in, it would go through that ear piece instead of through speaker if I remember right...
My dad's pearl did that anyway, and his curve does still :P
I can't test it on mine because I don't have voice dialing anymore on it :P

I use voice dialing all the time when I have my Plantronics 510 active. I don't think I ever used voice dialing without the headset.

Go to Options; Voice Dialling;Audio Prompts. Select Disabled to turn the Voice Prompt off.

I wanna use VAD when my bluetooth ear piece is connected. Is there a way to say the command without having to go through the menu and selecting VAD icon? When i connect the ear piece, i get the VAD prompt, but after that, I have to manual go to the icon in order to be able to speak a command.

Thanx
