Go in to Options - Status and post your file free..
That's most likely your problem is you don't have enough memory, so your phone will delete texts and call logs to free some up for an incoming text

Here's a good link to help you with that =)

Under "File Free" what does it say?

Like mine, for example, says 33046348 bytes

*edit*
Some of the links on that topic may not work, with our recent technical difficulties.. lol
The optimize your BB works for sure I know

Bingo! That's your problem. You need at least 10mb(10,000,000bytes?) usually to function without getting everything deleted on you.

Do you have a memory card to put pictures and ringtones on? That helps alot to save them there instead of on the phone itself. Do you have any 3rd party applications installed (google maps, gmail, yahoo go!) Those take up alot of room as well

You can also go in and delete the little video that comes on the phone that you don't need... To do that if i remember right it's in Options - Advanced options - Applications.

There's another way to delete it that is explained in the optimize your BB thread
That thread got me about 20mb of free space on my phone, and it helps a lot!!

The computer I'm on is too slow to click edit, so here's me posting again.

Also, a good idea is to, while the phone is turned on, pull out the battery for a few seconds, then put it back in, there are alot of leaks on the pearl, and I even have to do that 1x a week, and usually get 6mb of free space back on my phone every time I do that.

Go in to your menu with all the icons - then press menu - Switch application, do you have alot of applications running in the background? Some of them you can't close out of (Browser, Phone, Messages, Home Screen) But the rest can be closed and also help to free up some space

I was wondering how to find out what applications are "open." Thanks for this info! I am unable to close Blackberry Messenger which I'm not using....is there a way to close that program?

pvdiamon- Nope, blackberry messenger is another one of those "uncloseable" programs..
(which really gets on my nerves sometimes lol)

bucs0981- If you go into Media - pictures - media card, do the pictures show up there? If they do, then they are stored on your media card.

Definitely, if you don't have many 3rd party apps, pull the battery and see where that puts you at.

I find that confusing too...I have either My Pictures, or Preloaded Pictures. My pictures seems to take me to my media card, as that is where my photos are loaded. But i can't tell without hooking up to the computer and searching for mass media storage. Is there another way on the current OS?

take your media card out, then go back and see what pictures are available to you. Or you can connect your phone to your PC with the USB cable and then from My Computer, browse the media card to see what's there. It should appear as a removable drive.

That may be a difference between CDMA phones and GSM.. I'm not quite sure
if you go into options - advanced - media card does it show your media card there with a file free / total space amount? If it's not showing it there then it may not be reading it at all. If it is, like I said it may be a difference between your phones and mine :P
