Hey all,

Well, this is really weird. It's only happening sometimes, but if I type "d-o-n-t" and then hit enter, for instance, the word will just disappear entirely. Other times I can time the same thing and hit enter and Suretype will automatically throw the apostrophe in and display "don't". It's really bizarre! I've also noticed this when I type "can't". It's only been happening the last couple days. If I type in "d-o-n-'-t" then it's fine and it displays "don't". But it was really nice to not have type that extra apostrophe. I could just type it and it would display correctly. Now, if I don't type the apostrophe, it disappears after hitting enter and I have to go back and retype it!

Has anyone else seen this problem or know what it could be from? Have any suggestions on how to remedy it? It seems like a software problem to me. I went through the memory optimization sticky...I wonder if this has anything to do with removing some CODs. I doubt it, but I'm thinking I should run the apploader again. And it'd probably be wise to select the options where it wipes the device entirely and reinstalls everything. Any suggestions......

Welcome to the forums.

First I would do a battery pull (remove battery while device is on, then put it back in and let the device boot up).

If that doesn't work, check your AutoText (Options icon, AutoText). See if you have dont in there and what it is replacing the word with - nothing or "don't"

Would using the soft reset program do the same thing as a battery pull? For some reason I don't like pulling the battery...I know it's the method that RIM suggests, but I just don't like doing it. I'll do it if I have to though.

I'll give the battery pull a try and see if that fixes the problem. I'll repost if it's still happening. Like I've heard other people say about button problems....it's happening just enough to be frustrating. I'm convinced it's just a software glitch though.
I just got a replacement blackberry because my old button "8" key wasn't working. This replacement pearl has a much smoother keypad. I'm almost thinking that my first pearl was used. It looked like it was in a taped up box when I first got it.
