OK, I can't stand it anymore!
My pearl erases everything about once a week. I have done all the fixes that everyone has said - erasing programs, themes, language packs not used. When this happens and I get texts, or messages, it says that I got a text, etc. but they don't show up and I have to pull the battery.
So my question is, is this the only Blackberry phone that does this or do all of them have this problem? Because I love this phone but this is really driving me crazy, I have lost so many numbers I need as well as UNREAD messages (that one makes me the most mad:x). If I get a curve or a pearl 2 will I still have this problem?

The short answer is "Yes," you will likely have the same problems on another device if your issues carry over to it. I can tell you that I've got a Pearl 8100 and have never ever lost even one byte of data from my device. You need to get your hands around this issue and logically eliminate items as the probable cause.
You've got to be missing something on your cleanup tasks. Whether that be a rogue application causing your memory issues, or too many apps installed, or something else eating up your available space.

go to.. options >> security settings >> general settings >> scroll to content compression and make sure that is disabled. then save that.
and you'll stop the problem with the text messages and call logs. I've had the same problem from my 8100 to the 8300 and 8310.. it does that because it frees up space on the phone. you'll want to make sure that the content compression is disabled though.

do you leave a lot of applications running in the background? menu > switch application and see how many are left running.

When I select 'switch application' are there supposed to be a 5-6 running programs in the background? My browser, home page, messages etc all seem to be open. Are they always open or can I close those too?

No, you cannot close those programs. They stay running continuously
