Default Hourglass, all the time. - 03-18-2008, 03:34 PM

My Pearl constantly does the hour glass, when going through pictures, or going through music. Sometimes just quitting an application. Sometimes it will do it for almost a minute. Is there something wrong?

Nothing wrong, just needs a battery pull, reboot and let the memory cache clearn. That often clears up slow BBs and the hourglasss.

Good luck.

Try a battery pull, I know most will say it is the same, but try it.

As, always Mr. Sanders, your are a BB God. Thank you very much, even though the softreset helps, its not a cure.

I will be curious, actually, to know if the hourglassing continues as much, with a weekly battery pull vs. soft reset. I think you will find it better, but that is just my thoughts.

I agree JS

I tried the softreset but found the true battery pull to be more effective

I am having the same problem. But I am doing a battery pull at least 3 times a day. This has fast become a very annoying thing.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Peace,

Kamau

3x/day? That is quite excessive.

What is your file free at Options > Status? If your File free is excessively low, even a battery pull won't help that.

You'll have to excuse me if I don't respond right away. I'm at work, and only use my BB during breaks.
But to answer your question, I have 31 available out of 64.

Peace,

Make sure that is 31 of 64 and not 3.1. Make sure they have the same amount of places in the numbers. If it is 31 it should look like this 31000000, except you will have numbers instead of all of the zeros. If it is 3.1 you will have one less number.

Mine does it also at power up & down, taking about 30 seconds for each.
As for the numbers, free is 26827276 (I don't understand why it's less now since the phone has been off and in my locker since my previous message), and total is 64356352.

26 MB file free is good. Still, pulling the battery to reboot now and then is a good idea and clears the cache.

Kamau,

You have plenty of free memory. Are you using a third party theme? Is the hourglass tied to a certain function or functions? Also, if you hit ALT + Escape what is running?

Thanks, I did that though the first week I had it. You're right too. It worked wonders. I freed up so much stuff it was silly.

Try using a native theme and see if it still does it. Also, is there an area or application that does it the most? Like SMS? If you have a TON in there it might get laggy.
