Default suddenly emails only display for 24 hours

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, Suddenly two weeks ago, all my emails are disappearing on my handheld after 24 hours (it's not affecting my desktop email usage). I want to change the setting to stay for 60 days or so. I've fiddled and fiddled but I've been unable to fix it.

Any tips?

Thanks!

that setting is at Messages > Options > General Options > Keep Messages.

However, I am betting you might have a memory leak... Go to Options > Status.
What is the file free number there?

Ok, on the Keep Messages part, it says 2 months so that looks right.

On the Options > Status, it says 4817524 Bytes.

One thought that your message just prompted is that my kids have taken a bazilion pictures on my camera and I can't figure out how to select a lot of them to delete rather than manually doing it photo by photo (which takes forever). Do you think that might be driving the problem and filled up my memory? If so, do you know how to delete 90% of my photos in bulk?

Thanks!

Do you have a microSD memory card? If not, then the pictures taken will eat away at the free memory. It is recommended to get a microSD memory card for pictures, music and videos. Also, I don't see a way to select multiple files for deletion, at least on my 8100 Pearl. You may have to delete them one at a time.

You need to remove the battery (with the BB powered on) hold for 30 seconds, replace and reboot. Check your file free # now.

Also read and follow these tips...
Managing your BB Memory - Lost Call Logs and SMS
Yes, move the pictures off the device memory to a Media Card, as explained in the links.
Good luck.

That's what I was afraid of - will spend a boatload of time working on that to see if that helps. I am unable to reduce the amount of space dedicated to media (per message posted above) so looks like I have to manually delete these many, many useless pictures. Will NOT let kids play with phone anymore!

Thanks.

Default Pearl Software Bug causes erasing of emails/messages

I've had the pearl for about a month and have emails disappear from my message box as well. I have tried all the fixes recommended on this forum, but it kept happening. So it turns out that our Verizon support says it is a known "software bug" that Blackberry is currently working on. Once they have it resolved, we should be able to upgrade the software via desktop manager. In the meantime, I guess we just wait.

I did the above like recommended and it worked! My emails are now sticking around and my call log is back. It took me manually deleting 550 silly pictures my 3-year old had taken (which took a very, very long time), but doing that, resetting the media memory and rebooting took care of it.

Thanks everyone!

to delete those images you can hook your device to your computer, launch Desktop Manager > Media Manager and go through your pictures much more effectively

Welcome to BBF, lmckuin!

I share your relief in finding the solution here at the boards. The mods here are a bunch of helpful people. There's a lot of tips and tricks here that I myself learned.

Regards.
