Default Don't Wont MMS or SMS

Please Login to Remove!

I am letting my son use my old 8100 for emergencies. I have set him up on a kids plan but that plan also includes 1000 txt messages. I no longer want him to have access to the SMS/MMS capabilites. I called Tmobile and was informed there is nothing they can do.
Does anyone know of any tweaks that will cause the SMS/MMS to no longer work, I tried changing the Service Center # to all zeros but this did not work, a few hours later it was working again, must be network controlled.
Thank you
Tam

Well you can block incoming SMS messages via security options -> Firewall -> check SMS under block incoming messages.

Beyond that I'm not sure how to prevent outgoing messages (or if your son will figure out how to re-enable the incoming ones)

I'm thinking if you go look at the Optimize your BB thread, even though that's for wallpapers and stuff like that, if you do that and search for the SMS stuff it MIGHT work... By moving the sms files into that "removed modules" folder, or just deleting them entirely...

I'm not sure if you can actually do this, or if it'll work.. but it could be something to look into :P
If you can't get into the sms/messages folder on your phone, how are you going to send a text?

Blocking the incoming SMS as described above is the only way. I don't know of a way to block the outgoing, other than trusting your son not to do so.

There is nothing in the Optimizing Memory thread for SMS.

I know it wouldn't be in that thread, I just said that as an example because it helps delete some stuff... so maybe... yeah. anyway!

But the blocking incoming works too :P

You could tell your son that he doesn't have texting any more and that if he texts someone it's $0.15 cents! Or if he does his phone will explode.
My aunt told her kids (the had those migo phones) that if they pushed the red button the phone would self destruct!

just tell him that he doesn't have text messages on his plan and that he's not allowed to send them. if he does anyway, then take the phone away for a month. that's what my mom does with my little brother.
