With the blackberry, you either have data or you don't. There are no seperate plans. What plan do you have exactly? Only blackberry specific plans will work.

Other than just reading your mail over the browser, nothing good.
You should use the BlackBerry as it was intended.

I as well would recomend getting the BB plan, they really aren't expensive for unlimited ones, and its well worth it

Depends on where you are (carrier). Checkout the OP's . . . May be much more expensive than you think.

Rogers has a basic plan that isnt that expensive. they have several other BB plans from what i recall, ranging from cheap to extremely expensive IMO

Ditto. I'm still amazed that I can get off a plane on the other side of the country, turn on my blackberry, and get email and internet for $20/mo. Too cool.

now, that may be not bad but being able to user your BB to control the BES that the BB is connected to (just my own BES, for me) is awesome

The BB plan is too expensive I have just a regular $5 data plan for my phone, and was wondering if I could use that to access my pop3 email addresses.

If someone could make such a program that would be awsome IMHO!

Thanks!

That data plan will not work with the blackberry. You absolutely have to have the blackberry specific plan.

Blackberrys are different. My advice, if you want/need a mobile device that pulls email, that is what you should get. It's a waste of your time and effort to try and make the blackberry something it is not.

that statement is true on *some* carriers. many carriers require the blackberry data plan, and will not even activate it without the plan.

That's kind of a trick question.
-If your Hotmail account is MORE than 8 years old, you may be able to just add it to your blackberry like any other email (gmail yahoo, etc)
-If it's a "newer" hotmail account, some have been able to get it to work, but very very few. Most have had to upgrade to the premium account that you pay for to get it to work

That's just what I've read here in the forums though :P

its already what was posted here. 5-6 years + and you have POP access, otherwise you pay for it. MSFT issue, not BB issue
