Hey guys,
I had a strange deal happen to me today, just thought I'd post up & share.
Last weekend my girlfriend dropped my Tmobile 8100 into the jacuzzi, I received a new one on Tuesday 3/18 from the insurance company. The new phone has been fantastic all week, no problems at all.
This morning (Saturday 3/22) I received 3 e-mail messages, from
![[email address]](http://www.blackberryforums.com/?emailimage=f9813dd974742d88ae9903aeb73f5d2d)
kbe...(didn't remember the rest of the address). I figured this was work spam, so I logged into outlook to delete and the messages weren't there. So I received these message directly to my BB (not through my work e-mail). The message said something like, "You can now use smonson029@.... to message", I didn't remember it because it was spam. I then noticed a new icon on my desktop, it's an e-mail envelope with a little globe on it, when I click it, it's like a new messaging facility, where I can send messages using the "smonson029@tmo.blackbe... (I can't read after the tmo.blackbe)", and the icon is named "smonson029@tmo.blackbe...".
I then noticed that the camera flash was stuck ON all the time. I pulled the battery many times, but it's still on. I had the BB in my pocket and was messing with my pool filter so I figured maybe it got a little wet, or it was a crappy refurbished phone from Asurion. Well the phone seems to work just fine, except for the camera flash staying on (it did seem a little strange, rebooting non responsive when I first noticed, like it had water damage).
I called Tmobile and they walked me through a master reset, which got rid of the smonson029 message deal, but my old applications are still there (thought they would get wiped?).
Well anyways, I'm going to call Asurion to get another phone, because it seems that this is more related to faulty hardware, but I thought for a minute that it might've been a type of virus or something. BTW, Tmobile had me check the little water sensor sticker and it showed up white, so he said that indicates that there is no water damage (or at least not by that sensor).
Anyone seen this?
BTW, I've never gotten spam like this before. I've only seen spam that has slipped by my work's spam filter before, never anything directly to my BB (not sent through my work address).
