Default Pearl 8130 Battery Life Tips?

Please Login to Remove!

I have been noticing my battery life getting less and less. I read over the page that outlined different tricks and will be trying a full discharge to full charge of three times right away.

My question, is there anything I should know specific to 8130 that might be running in the background using up batter power (some mystery setting with video). Today I took the phone off the charger at 7:30 and by 2:30 it was 50% gone.

As well, where in the settings do I find backlight options. I haven't found it and being busy, endless searching is getting annoying.

Thanks for everyones help in advance. If there are any other tip that may be good to know, feel free to mention it.

backlight: Options > Screen/Keyboard. If you read that FAQ, it should be listed in it, perhaps not.

Did you look at the applications running in the background?

Are you using any IM clients or any programs that access the internet on a consistent basis? To see what is running Hit Menu>Menu>Switch Application (anything other than the base five Phone, Messages, Home Screen, BB Messenger, Browser is extra)

Also, what is the reception in the area that you are in? If it's low to none the device will go into full broadcast mode trying to find a signal. If you are in a known bad reception area just turn the radio off.

Can't seem to get BB messenger and Browser off. I don't mind the BB messenger for obvious reasons, but I don't have the browser in my unlimited plan and I don't use it.

I open browser > menu > close, but it's still in my switch applications. How do I get it off for good?

Those are the part of the base 5 programs that always run and you cannot close them. See Jsanders latest post.

Good Luck!

You guys have been a big help. Thanks for showing me #1, I read elsewhere that I would need to do a full discharge and recharge, but apparently not as it says on this site.

Thanks. This application switching has been a big help, didn't realize it was like that. This phone is by far the best thing I've ever owned.

Another good point, this is by far the best forum I've ever had. You guys are really helpful and help extremely fast. Much better than a help line.

Thanks again.

You're welcome. There's lots of help around here.
Battery life is affected mainly by 2 things: how much the screen is lit up and how much you use one of the "radios" (that includes calls, browsing, bluetooth, sending/receiving IMs and other stuff). Just having the phone on, being sent emails, checking stuff, 5-10 short calls/day, the battery should last at least a couple of days.
