| Turning Gophone SMS Notification Sound Off on Pearl 8100-Please Help! Please Login to Remove! Hi everyone, i'm really desperate for help.
i've spent about three hours trying to fix a singular problem.
I am using a pearl 8100 on at&t's gophone service, which is working great for using it as a phone and txting.
i have made all notifications on the phone so that it is at vibrate ONLY, but the 0.00 notification ALWAYS MAKES A SOUND, no matter what.
I will do anything to get rid of this hellish sound because it is driving me crazy.
I don't even care if i still have the notification and it vibrates, i just want to be able to txt in places where i am supposed to be quiet.
i can't be quiet when the phone erupts with a ding-DING! sound every txt.
if the only way to do this is to reinstall os, delete ALL ringtones, is it possible to get another vibrating ringtone? because i never even use ringtones, only vibrate mode with the pearl. I tried doing this, but i just messed up my phone, (I had followed the optimize your BB tutorial, and lost the messages icon, didn't have themes, and got error messages).
i would appreciate any help SOOO much.
thanks! | | Offline

thanks! | Are you sure that you made the modifications to the active profile (Norma) if you are sure the settings are correct try a hard reset (Battery pull while the device is on and not in sleep mode). If that fails what happens when you select the Vibrate or Quiet profiles?

i don't even know what sound it is, its not any of the selected ringtones for the profiles (i listened to each one) it still does it on vibrate and quiet profiles
its some retarded gophone sound, and i will do ANYTHING To get rid of it.
thanks for your help, more would be appreciated! | | Offline

| Ok, so let's try a test with the Normal Profile.
Goto Profiles>Advanced>Highlight normal and Menu>Edit
Select SMS Text
Out of Holster: (Change it to NONE) Press Menu>Save.
Now select the normal profile and test. | | Offline

| the thing is-this isn't a notification for the sms.
it is a notification after anything, a call, a txt, etc-showing my balance of the prepaid card after sending/receiving that txt.
i get vibrate for vibrate on sms, ring for ring on sms, quiet for quiet on sms.
i just get this sound for the notification.
and no-normal profile doesn't work :( | | Offline

Ok, maybe we need to backup then. Sorry if I am having a difficult time understanding the issue. What is the "0.00 notification"?

| Yea, I had thought those were types of SMS messages in the past (like a voicemail notification is SMS), but if you say they are not, then they are not.
Perhaps they just can't be edited... something to be aware of when using a go-phone service... | | Offline

| ugh-no-there has to be a way to make a phone silent.
the 0.00 notification is a notification i receive after each txt sent. i have a txting package, 1000 for 10 bucks, but it still sends me a notification after each txt.
on my razr, i was able to make it just vibrate.
will removing all preloaded ringtones make it go away?
thank you so much for the help by the way. | | Offline

| i was able to remove all sounds period from my pearl, but it also messed up the menu, and i ended up having to restore it back, because i was missing my messaging icon and was getting the java.nullpoint.exception errors.
also-again-i'm positive its not a profiles/notifications thing-trust me, i've spent hours trying to find the culprit. i went through each profile, edited each one to make it silent, heard which tune would play if it WERENT silent, and i still cant even find the sound.
i don't even think its a preloaded one. i know the sound isn't loaded on the sim card or something, so i just need a solution. | | Offline

| No advice, other than can you get a plan instead of a GoPhone? That might fix the alert problem.
