Go to Options, Security, General Options. Click the BlackBerry button and select "Wipe Handheld". Follow the prompts.

What is the intent of restoring it to factory defaults? It will erase all data contact, messages, settings, etc.

The wipe will do this. Good luck! (If you are unsure in ANY way use DM to do a backup first!)

ok yea that works but doing a wipe that way data can still be recovered. if you are returning a device before you do a wipe handheld, go into security settings and enable content protection and set the strength to strongest. now do a wipe handheld, after it initially wipes the data it will then "scrub" over the deleted information and scramble it so that it can never be recovered.
