Default UPGRADE?? 8120 or 8320

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys I'm about to upgrade my pearl soon and im really torn between the new 8120 and the 8320. the form factor is leaning me slightly towards the 8120 but the screensize is leaning me 8320, so can you guys give me some honest opinions on which is the better all around phone. PS keyboard is not really a factor I am awsome with both suretype and qwerty.

Go to a store and play with both of them. They are both solid choices, I can't really say which one would be better for you. It basically really only comes donw to screen size and keyboard, which only you an decide on.

i have its strange because before i left att i had a curve and loved it. when i went to TMobile i got the pearl and love the form factor easy fit in jeans pocket etc.. but the screen is small coming from a curve/iphone so that is the only neg i think. will the 8120 have newer features that the 8320??

For a time it will i think. Im sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the 8120 comes with software 4.3, and the Curves are still on 4.2 until we all get the upgrade to 4.5 hopefully in a couple of months.

The big things for me are:

8320:
Full keyboard

8120:
small keyboard
external access to sd slot

for me the full keyboard is more important than the size or sd access. Coming from an 8700, the 8320 is tiny.

Screen size never seemed to matter to me

how bout third party apps it seems as though the curve gets more/ better apps than the pearls, is it because of the better bussiness usability and the fact that the pearl is just a consumer phone?

Honestly I'm not sure. I see an equal amount of curves / pearls. Typically I see more 8800 series devices for strictly business usage.

I've never had a lack of software or problem for either a pearl or a curve

To my knowledge, the majority of apps that will run on a curve will also run on the the pearl. I actually only know of one app that wont work on both. The app that changes the color of the pearls trackball. It wont work on the curve.

I'm in the same boat as Arcangel. I could care less about the external SD. What about the camera? The 8100 has a 1.3 MP and the 8x20 both have a 2.0 MP, right? How is the picture quality on the Curve?

From what I understand the devices (since the OS and rest of the hardware, including camera) are practically identical as far as functionality. You can't use the color changing app because these phones don't have the hardware ability to change the trackball color (RIM decided people didn't need this).

I'm pretty sure you would be happy with either. I think men tend to prefer the form factor of the Pearl (due to pocket carrying) and women typically may prefer the Curve because you can still fit it in a purse and the screen is bigger and allows you to see more stuff.

So you really don't have much to consider in your decision except for the following.

Screen Size
keyboard size
external SD
COST (usually the tipping point because one or the other may be on sale!!!)

Also, FYI, this topic has been discussed like a million times.

And not once have I ever heard that "men prefer the pearl" and "women prefer the curve".
That might be one of the silliest things I've heard anyone say.

... yeah ... I prefer the curve (male) and my wife prefers the pearl (female)

Something sillier (and a blatant lie): I prefer the 8703e over the 8320.
