you can also try pulling the battery with the device ON and removing the SIM then putting it back in and powering up the device.

try to remove, wipe the gold contacts with a clean cloth and some alcohol, and replace the SIM card, that might help, i was having those issues, and that help.

Wirelessly posted

From experience...its a faulty sim card. Go to your local carrier's retail store and ask to do a sim swap. That should fix it, it did for me. Drove me insane!!!

Angry

It seems like a lot of peoples are having this problem with the phone saying "sim card error" And it also seems like it is more of a problem with the blackberrys. So every time someone says " your sim card is bad" "pull the card and reinsert it" " clean the contacts" " reset the phone" "pull the battery" Remember when we all had some other kind of phone? Were we talking about sim card errors? NO! NO! NO! I wish that I would never have to here another stupid response to the "sim card error" There is obviously some type of problem here that is not related to any of the "fixes" everybody is repeating over and over again. Somebody needs to admit the real truth to the problem! RIM? AT&T?

Wow...1 post and you are an expert on how bad RIM is. "A lot of people?" Do you have a number? Have you done studies? I've seen a few here out of a membership of 200,000. Sim cards can and do go bad. It's not the end of the world. If a new sim card doesn't fix it then it's obviously a problem with the phone.

and when a sim goes bad, a lot of carriers will replace it for free even if your out of warranty. They wont swap the phone for free if its out of warranty.

1 post means nothing. I have been reading all the post for some time now. I'm sure that you have owned other phones correct? Have you had a "sim card error" with the other phones so frequently? I don't need to perform any of my own studies. Do a search for "sim card error" on the web. Tell me what you find? The very first entire page is nothing but blackberry results! There is my study. You happy now? So you are telling me that everybody has a bad phone and it needs to be replaced? Keep reading the posts. Many people are way past the first replacement. All the signs are here right in front of you yet you still deny it. I find it hard to believe that every model of blackberry has that many issues. There is some common reason for this and it may be network related.

So try a non-Blackberry device and knock yourself out! Wait....carriers issue SIM's not RIM. Oh well.

Everybody? I know many people using most BB models on several different carriers. I've never had anyone report getting "sim card error." I'm sure there are a few bad sim cards. I'm sure there are a few defective devices. I wouldn't call it an epidemic.

Oh, and it means everything with regards to your credibility on this forum since nobody here knows you.

The reason "blackberry" comes up first is because the Blackberryforums are some of the busiest forums out there and Google picks them up quite nicely.

Me thinks someone needs to breathe and count to 10..... or backwards from 100.

Don't look up. The sky just fell. Let's replace it.

Google also picks it up because the blackberry is the only device that will give you the exact error message "Sim card error"

I have had Motorola's, Samsung's, and LG's all have problems. Google "insert Sim" and see what happens. Does that mean every motorola or nokia ever made was bad?

I have never had this issue with my BB. SIM is 4 years old

as I work for ATT I see SIM card error on each type device equally

And it isnt all that often I see it. Normally on an older SIM or a phone that has seen better days

Oh yeah John Clark. You're cool!! Everyone knows you. You have a new post every minute on here!! So sweet you are.........

So, along those same lines of thinking. Because you have zero life and post a new comment every minute, you have credibility on some forum?
