Trying to help a buddy (in Paris) who just got 8100.


Will BB Messenger work with out BIS?


What about some of the other IM programs?

it should. I have friends on bb messenger who are on bis, and im on BES.

BB messenger will not work without blackberry-specific service. No blackberry data plan, no BB messenger.

What about some of the other instant messenger type programs?

Is there some type of work around for the Pearl?

I'm not competent to advise on IM apps and no blackberry data plan. I can tell you many here swear by jivetalk. Take a look at that (search) and see if it works on generic cell phone data service. I don't know.
