jivetalk will use data, it has a free 30 day trial and is hands down (in many peoples opinion in addition to my own) the best IM app out there. BeeJive :: JiveTalk mobile messenger - instant messaging to go is the website.

OZ requires data to do the initial login, then uses SMS to send/receive

Default Oz Instant Messaging

My wifes phone is an unlocked phone from AT&T,
and she is using it with t-mobile.
The OZ application I have on her phone used to worked in AT&T.
but it doesn't work with t-mobile.
She does not have any data plan with t-mobile.
and on her pearl 8100 there is not a browser icon or media net icon.

How can I get the OZ application for t-mobile???????
