Default New Member - wanted to say hello....

Hi,

Purchased my first Blackberry today (Verizon), the 8130. So far I'm liking it but like with any new toy, I'm having fun trying to figure things out. Hopefully I'll be a regular here, we'll see how things go.

Thanks for the welcome guys! I am eager to ask questions but I know how some forums are - search first! Actually I'm going through the FAQ section, got a couple of questions answered already.

I'll take a look at BB Smart after I get a bit more familiar, but any suggestions for add-ons are always appreciated!

OK - it didn't last long, I've done some reading of the FAQs & I'm a bit confused about email services. Verizon offers two different services for receiving email, at the low you can use BIS or for $15 more, you can have full integration with your office Exchange Server, if that's what you use. My company does use an exchange server but I decided to spend a little less money and just use BIS.

From my understanding (Verizon rep so take that w/ a grain of salt), the BIS allows connection to multiple POP email services but won't connect to an Outlook account (through an Exchange server). So what I did is add a couple of POP email accounts, plus I set up a @vzn.blackberry.net email as well. Things work fine so what I did is set up a rule in outlook to forward my email to the blackberry.net account. Works fine. But for the heck of it, I set up my exchange/outlook email account and to my surprise, it works well.

So with this in mind, I think that's how I'll set things up - I need email from my office account. Any issues with this that I should be aware of? If I got the higher level of service, what other services or features would I benefit from?

Thanks,
Bob
