Default 8120 OS: Telefonica - v4.3.0.190/4.3.0.115 (Multilanguage) - 04-03-2008, 02:29 PM

Got bored and searched through the list of possible carriers for the 8120 and we have ourselves a new one

*** I want to thank Tailor for writing how to install the software, the directions were so good that just copied his directions for this post ***

This link will help you install only what you use, the less you have installed the faster the pearl seems to run: Click Here
-> I removed the media (extra pictures), as well as the carrier themes, and it freed up a lot of space. Hope this Helps

Download link: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...9E92D324F56DE0

Instructions for installing:

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed. Currently, the latest version available is 4.3 and may be downloaded here: http://www.blackberry.com/go/softwaredownloads

2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.

3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It is located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\Apploader

4. Plug in the BlackBerry and open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization." Don't unplug from the PC & Don't remove the battery unless the spinning hourglass has been there for 30 minutes or more. If the hourglass has been spinning for more than 30 minutes continuously you will need to wipe the device with JL_Cmder (close out of Desktop Manager during this process.) You will then end up with a white screen with small icons and an error code number like 507 or 543.

Mmh, I think I'll wait v4.5 (it's going to be available for the 8120, right?). Is there anything amazing with this update?
Thanks for the info!

Cant see anything new, but if it improves anything I am sold. Remember 4.3 on these phone is basically the same as 4.5 so the benefits you are seeing now. The only major difference between what you have now and 4.5 is a new media player. But all the other major updates you have already.

For some reason they renamed 4.3 to 4.5. I am sure there is a logical reason, but I dunno what it is. Install this update and enjoy it.

No huge changes here. I didn't have any stability issues with the previous version (Orange UK .105), so I don't have anything to compare it to.

I agree.

The only difference is the web browser did not work 100% because there was some change in the settings.

I would expect this not to be a problem in the future

I just purchased a Pearl 8120 on O2 UK with 4.3.0.67 preinstalled. I'm new to this (only 1 day!) and still finding my way but generally my technical abilities are OK and I do tend to tinker a little to customise new things to my needs. My question is, is it likely to be worthwhile installing this update given that I'm already on a build of 4.3?

I mean, if you look at ALL OF THE SITES, they all have the same layout, and there is no word for Blackberry in Spanish, its just Blackberry... so you find the one that says 8120 from the drop down list, and click the button, just like EVERY other site... The button happens to say Enviar, which means to send/download, but that is actually irrelevant...

OK thanks. This being the first time I downloaded any blackberry software from any site, I didn't realise that. I've now found an english version on another site so I've worked out what it is asking me for

Thanks for putting this up

I failed at Spanish 101 though, ahem, it took me a few attempts to fill in the form cuz it kept telling me I'd incorrectly done something.. then I realized that I'd forgotten to tick the 'all the details are correct part'

/me goes to stand in the stupid corner
