Exclamation new blackberry owner need help

hi i just was giving a used blackberry pearl by my uncle i have a few questions

first. the trackball doesnt really work at all do i have to pay to get it fixed or is there anyway to fix it myself.

second. what should i download to my computer to be able to use the usb with the blackberry the software.

you just need to download desktop manager. the link to download can be found at BlackBerry Desktop Manager (i will update this with the exact link in a sec). you can go to the last link in my sig to find parts or a repair shop for your device. welcome to the forums

thank you im downloading it right now

it didnt come with anything so im using a usb cable i found its not really charging it but it turns on

with the installation of DM, it will allow for charging of the device via USB

wow thanks guys i cleaned the trackball and downloaded the software you guys are fantastic and saved me a good chunk of money THANKS A LOT

one last question

the battery bar is empty and red and there is a lightning looking bolt next to it does this mean its charging there is no night flashing or any movement

Lightening bolt means it is charging.
