Default 8130 Battery Cover *without* camera features?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi! This is my first post on BB Forums, although I have been lurking and have learned so much here!

At work, there are some locations where I can't have a camera, but I'd still like to bring my BlackBerry 8130 with me. I'd like to have a replacement battery cover that fits the 8130, but does not have the camera features, so it looks like a non-camera phone. So I could have my "work" battery cover and my "home" battery cover. Does such a thing exist? I've looked, and I can't find anything.

Alternatively, I was thinking of buying a standard replacement battery cover and modifying it to cover up the camera features to achieve the same effect. I'd like it to look good, though. Has anyone done this? Pictures?

Thanks!

Carol

Not sure about the replacement cover without the camera hole, but you may want to check at work before this anyway. Just because the lens is covered, it still has a camera, and they may not want you to have it regardless. Kind of like a camera with the lens cover on, its still a camera. I know that you can go to c:/Program Files/Common Files/Research in Motion/Shared/Loader Files/8130..../Java and removed the file called "net_rim_bb_camera.cod" and run the application loader in Desktop Manager, and this will effectively deactivate your camera.

I had restricted areas for cameras where I used to work also.

I just always left my phone in my pocket, no one seemed to care.

Must be a strict company!

i agree. even if you removed the camera .cod from the application loader, noone would really know except you. others will still think you have a camera phone.
