Yes, you can use MSN Messenger on it. However, on the 8100 you won't want to use the app that comes on the phone as it uses SMS for it's messages. I recommend JiveTalk. It's a one time fee for the app but will be trouble free and doesn't use sms.

I believe the Sony phones use Memory Stick which is not compatible with the BB. The BB needs MicroSD.

Honestly if I was you I'd wait until the price for the newer Pearl 2 to release next week, but to answer your question:

1. Yes you need a data plan to use MSN Messenger or anyother messenger program (unless you using SMS)
2. Last time I checked all Sony Ericsson phones uses Sony's Pro Duo memory sticks and the Pearl (along with all other BBs) use MicroSD cards.

It depends what Sony Ericsson phone you have, the newish ones are capable of Micro SD or Memory Stick M2 Micro.

If your memory card looks like this....

You won't be able to use it, if it looks like this....

Then you will!

Thank you for the reply's. I have a few more question's. With the data plan I am getting it's $15 a month and I get 1.5 MB, is that a lot if I just want to use MSN Messenger and search the web once and a while? Also I will have to wait a very long time to get a unlocked Pearl 2 for a decent price won't I?

Thank you ahead of time for the help.

FYI, I think the pearl 2 is available at Rogers right now...the 8110. I wonder when Rogers is getting a new phone lineup as they haven't updated it since Christmas (the shine poster).
