Default Strange little speed dial problem

Scenariao:

Whilst idle on a desk this little pearl randomly displays "Assign a Speed Dial to the , key?" and has the options for yes and no under that. First off the user didn't touch the device to make it do that and second the only way out is the escape key. the track ball ceases to function when this happens so choosing no is out of the question.

any ideas guys and gals? i'm always getting the wierd problems from my users.

fixed one issue. the trackball issue seems to have worked itself out by changing the input language to US English. not sure how it was set to catalan anyway. but i still have the random assign a speed dial pop up without ever actually having touched the device.
