Question how do i manage PDF's on my pearl ?

Please Login to Remove!

several questions:
first of all i have verizon which i understand may limit me in some ways.

i opened a pdf attached to an email and it was virtually unreadable. do i need third party software to read pdf's?

if i put pdf's on my 2GB memory card will my pearl be able to see these?
will i be able to open these PDFs ?
do i need a third party app to find and open these pdf's?

can i download pdf's from the internet and save them to the memory card?
or only to my internal memory (much less preferable)?

HUGE THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU ALL CAN OFFER !!

I can answer some of these.

The native file viewer on the Blackberry OS is not good; you'll need to find a 3rd party app to really be able to read not only .pdf, but any file format. If you're willing to wait, I believe OS 4.5 has Docs to Go (someone correct me if not).

Any file you can save on your device or SD can be attached to an email message. Once again, the BB isn't designed to be a document viewer, so at present it leaves a lot to be desired.

I don't know about downloading .pdf files from the internet, but you should be able to save any .pdf sent to you in a message to your SD card. I do it all of the time until I can get back to my desktop.

Check out BeamBerry. It allows you to view PDFs (and other files types) in their original format.

BeamBerry - View, Print, Store BlackBerry e-mail attachments

Right now, I don't think there is a way to download PDF files using the browser. They need to come via e-mail attachments.

Question free PDF reader

GREAT !
thanks,
does this take a lot of memory?
i assume it has to reside on the resident flash memory, but PDF's can sit on memory card right?

is the only way to get PDF's stored on memory card by installing them onto card directly from PC? this verizon phone does not seem to let me access the card?

THANKS AGAIN

What more can you expect out of a PDF reader on such a little screen? Mine works pretty well, albeit slowly and I don't know why anyone would pay $50 for something else. I occasionally get 11x17 PDF drawings emailed to me. I can view them and view some of the small text and get all the information I need from the drawing.

There's some sort of option to re-render the file once you've zoomed/panned to the area you want to read. It will originally be blurry, but once you render it'll be readable. I'm sure you've played around with the menu though. Maybe you're reading smaller text files or something. Good luck finding something that'll work. Might as just wait for the next OS where you'll get something for free.

Peace,
LTP

Default When is the next OS out due?

Will the new OS allow the 8100 to record videos and open and edit the popular office formats? If so that's going to be great. I currently use Grid magic to open and edit xls files, but need a document editor and pdf reader. Video recording even on a 1.3 Mp cam will a great addition.

Unhappy struggling with mobi reader

okay, downloaded mobipocket reader and creator.
took all 6 pdfs which i want on BB right now. I opened them in adobe, saved them as html.
then i took the mobi ebook creator and imported all pdfs,
then i exported all pdfs to what i guess are ebooks using this media creator that came from mobipocket.
then i dragged all of these onto my media card.
turned off mass storage, disconnected the pearl from the pc , and ....
NOTHING !!!
the device does not see any of these documents?
any suggestions?
anyone go through all this craziness as well.
just trying to do some reading on the pearl, you know, while driving home, etc...
any help, suggestions, better , easier, free products?

thanks/

if it aint broke dont fix it.
okay, changed from mobipocket creator to mobipocket desktop.
suddenly i am able to directly export my pdfs straight into PDFs and they get put right onto the pearl, without going through the BB desktop software. Much easier, and the pdf's can be read!!!! Dont like the names assigned to the docs. and it does not seem like you could name them before they were exported.
it you can please let me know, otherwise this seems to be a good solution]
