Default 8130 Outlook 2007 Sync nightmare - 04-11-2008, 12:00 AM

Sorry in advance to those who've seen this all before, but I haven't seen any comments that address this situation. I've updated my Verizon 8130 Pearl with the latest software versions, both the Blackberry Desktop Manager on my (Vista Ultimate) PC and on the "device software" on the BB.

Each day, my sync attempts become worse and worse... calendar is now unmanageable as it adds multiple instances of appointments (even though I "decline" the modifications).

I need two-direction sync as that's how I live my life - appointments are added/modified while I'm at my desk and/or on the road. All the settings have been confirmed to allow this type of operation.

Previously, I used Outlook 2003 and Microsoft's Active Sync, and never had a problem. (BTW, that was also using a Windows-based Samsung PDA.)

My partner bought the same phone around the same time I did - a couple of weeks ago, and uses the Windows XP os. He has different, though equally unsatisfactory, results.

Is our experience unique?

I can't believe a gazillion people out there use the Verizon pearl and put up with this nonsense!

Please help!

I have an 8130 and down download my Outlook 2007 my address book, memo, and tasks with no problem. Every time I go to download the Calendar I get a message "Operation Terminated Unexpectedly." I have spent many, many HOURS on the phone with Sprint "BlackBerry Experts" and we can't get this to work.

For both of you.

Go into the desktop manager>Backup/Restore>Advanced>

Select the calendar entry on the right hand (BB) Side. Press clear and delete the calendar Database from the handheld. Then exit and resynch. It should send the entire calendar. If the database is corrupt it will resolve the issue.

For the first poster if this does not work your may need to delete your calendar service books and have them resent.

Good Luck!

I experienced similar problems and concluded it is a Vista related issue. All was well until I upgraded to a new machine with Vista. Specifically, my recurring meetings are 5 to 7 hours earlier than what is in Outlook. Applied DST patches, wiped the device, and still having problems.

I feel your pain...

Default operation terminated unexpectedly - 04-25-2008, 03:41 PM

I was getting the “The operation terminated unexpectedly” error from Intellisync too, when trying to synchronize calendars (tasks, contacts, notes worked fine).

I tried to:
-delete the ical from service books
-delete/rename intellisync folder
-uninstalled dm/ran ccleaner/installed dm

I then found a post that said that this error can come up if reoccurring appointments have to ‘no end date’ and to resolve the problem was to put a end date in. I had over 200 appointments with no end dates (i.e. birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) so I did not want to put an end date for each one so I did the following.

-Created a new Outlook profile to see if the sync of calendars would work and it did.
-So went back to the original profile, created a new calendar, switched back to original calendar, sorted all the appointments in the calendar by the reoccurring end date and moved to the new calendar and synced just fine without any errors.
-So I slowly moved the reoccurring appoints from the new calendar back to the original calendar and would sync again until I got the sync error and was able to determine which appt caused the problem and promptly deleted it. This took about 5 minutes as opposed to who knows how long by putting an end date.

Is there any consensus that VISTA is a problem with BB synchs? I still use XP and really am hesitant to mess with VISTA still hearing of issues like this.

Alrighty guys. Here might be a solution for you. Got this from another board. I had tried a bunch of things but nothing seemed to work. This worked for me.

I had the same issue, I found an issue on the RIM support site:
The Intellisync® configuration folder has corrupt entries and must be removed.
Resolution
To properly synchronize the Calendar with Microsoft Outlook, complete the following steps:
1. On the computer, navigate to the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\[user_name]\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry.
2. Right-click the Intellisync folder and click Delete.
3. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
4. Double-click Synchronize and click Synchronize now.

I use Vista so the directory tree was a bit different but not hard to get to. I relocated the Intellisync folder because I was doubtful. DM ran through the configuration sequence which gave me hope and then it worked like a charm. Something clearly got corrupted in the Intellisync config. I can't say this is everyone's problem with this bug but it certainly worked for me and it is a relatively painless fix

Like I said, this was from another site. But I think that original author would not mind, seeing that weve been having the same issues he has...
I hope this helps you. As I know what kind of pain in the A$$ it is to have a screwed up calendar.

I have had Vista since it came out, so I don't think that is the problem. I have not had any problems with it.
