Default Memory Leak Help for VZW Pearl

Please Login to Remove!

I need some help figuring this problem out guys/gals.

I have downloaded the new OS and have updated to that through BB Desktop manager, and the download/upload was successful on the phone. I have also changed the memory limitations through the media appliance to 12MB, which I discovered through some searching on BBF and BB FAQs on wikipedia.

The problem is my phone still deletes some of my messages and all of my call logs. I currently have a 1gb SD memory card in the phone, which I do occassionally take out to load some ringtones on it. The ringtones stay on the memory card, so only about 10 30 second ringtones and 10-15 picutres are on the phone's internal memory.

What else should I do to make the problem of my messages and call log being deleted?

"so only about 10 30 second ringtones and 10-15 picutres are on the phone's internal memory."

Get them out of the device memory and into the SD card.
They take up a fair amount of space.

well those ringtones and those pictures are what is taking up all your space. why are they on internal memory? you can move them all to the microSD card and free up a great deal of memory. even 15, 400kb picture files for pictures is 6mb. and those 30 second ringtones may take up the same amount of space. So 1/5 of your total phone memory is taken up by media.

please go to options > status and post your file free. do this before a battery pull, and also after a battery pull. To do a battery pull, make sure the device is ON and pull the battery for 30 seconds. put the battery back in and boot up the phone.

Like they said get all the RTs and pix off the phone's memory just have 'em on the card. Then see how much you have left. The term "memory leak" is kind of a misnomer. The problem people have is "not enough free memory" and there are ways to fix that. My phone's free memory peaks at 28-30mb but once it goes down to 22mb it only goes up and down slightly after that.

I took everyones advice and moved all the ringtones/pictures from the phone's internal memory.

I forgot to get a base idea of how memory was being used for all of the ringtones/pictures.

When I read the new memory I came up with these readings.
  • no pictures file free 5391851 bytes
  • no ringtones file free 6702375 bytes
  • Total File 50462720 bytes

After a battery pull, and waiting for 30 seconds, I came up with these readings.
  • file free 13811519 bytes
  • file total 50462720 bytes

Do these sound right? Remeber no ringtones and no pictures are on the phone, other than what came with it from the factory.
