Do You Know If There Is Any Program Or Application Like An Email Client To Use It With Wifi Without Contract The Data Plan???

Without a data plan, you won't get BlackBerry push email, you will have the Wifi browser.

I'm about to pick up a 8120 to use with wifi only--(my univ is one big hotspot anyway). Can you please explain what you mean "no browser either"? Also, will I have any problems using the gmail application?

Was going to buy 8120. TMO reps told me in the store and on the phone that I CAN NOT browse internet using free wi-fi networks w/o data plan and that I need special "feauture". Some of the people here claim that it is possible. Hope this isseu will be resolved soon but dont understand why t-mobile reps are lying...

You can use your 8120 to browse the web via WiFi without the data plan. You have to change you browser settings from T-Zones (default) to HotSpot. Once you do that you will be able to browse away at nice speeds.

You can use an open HotSpot to browse the Internet via the Wi-Fi browser. As for the "issue to be resolved" that would be you paying $20 a month for unlimited data.

I don't think the reps are going out of there way to lie to people. They are told what is needed to make the device work as intended not how to teach people how to get around things and piece things together and create unreliabilty to save a few bucks.

Also the special feature is called the "BlackBerry Feature Enabler" simply call customer care and ask for it, it is free.

I have a 8100 and using my O2 sim. I have access configured in the contract but unable to access internet on blackberry. i donot have any icon to launch the browser. i did try going to options -> advanced options to browser but a blank screen and nothing. got some info on web regarding APN and fed that info into TCP settings but no success still got the same message " data connection refused" I called the service provider(O2) was told to register blackberry with them at a monthly charge. I have read a lot of threads on this forum but unable to find with a similar problem.

Apparently your "BlackBerry Data Plan" with o2 has not activated. Call them and confirm it IS on your account. Not all Data Plans will work, but a BlackBerry Data Plan will. THEY might have made a mistake in putting your plan on your account.

i do not have a data plan but my plan includes internet access. I have just installed opera mini. i presume i will be able go online. I am not fussy about reading email but web access otherwise is helpful.
A quick question" the machine is asking me about mass storage mode to switch on or off. could you explain?
O2 are asking me to pay a monthly charge on top of the present plan. they also mentioned to register the blackberry as well.

As said, not all data plans will work. You can try the one you have and see, but apparently it is not one that will work for a BB.

Mass Storage Mode has to do with allowing access to the Media Card when connected to your PC as a removable drive. Read this: How do I add media files to my microSD card? - BlackBerryFAQ

What is O2 asking for the addtional monthly charge for... the BB Data Plan service? It is needed.
