Default Memory (ROM) discrepancies, 8120 show's less...

Please Login to Remove!

I just upgraded to the 8120 from the 8100...WOW! Great device...

Only one issue...it shows the File Total: 54132736
8100 = File Total: 64356352

WTF! Where'd that extra 10MB go?

IMO, huge problem...I understand less File Free but that's because I have the whole data plan with all the bells and whistles...

But total...c'mon!

Anyone else noticed this?

Cheers!
Myk

IMO, no biggie.

Both have 64mb total. One is interpreting it differently based on some portion of the 64mb being used by the OS and reflecting instead the 54 total. No reason to pitch or fit and cuss.

So, are the 8120's in the stores already? I would imagine they must be if people have already snatched them up.

actually the file free has more to do with the device features. both devices are 64mb memory devices as JS said, and its not all the extra carrier branding junk, its actually the video recorder, wifi browser, voice recorder, etc

I guess the best way to explain this is to compare it to the HDD of a PC. Say you have a package listing of 160 GB HDD on your laptop. If you go into "My Computer" (and other options) it will generally show 8-10GBs less. Simply put, there are certain OS files and applications from manufacturer that use a portion of the HDD that you can't free up. I understood what was posted above but maybe this explains it more simple.
