Default 2008 Audi A4 Bluetooth - Pearl Compatibility

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,
Hoping someone can assist with this - I've seen some other posts that are similar.

I just picked up a new Audi A4 2.0 'Progressiv' model. It has voice command Bluetooth that I've managed to get working intermittently. When it works, it works great.

My first (and biggest) problem seems to be that the car->Pearl Bluetooth interface seems to cycle on, off, on, off, repeatedly. I can get the phone to pair successfully, then after about a minute or two of non usage it de-pairs. Then it pairs again without warning a few minutes after that. Then de-pairs again. And the cycle continues, which is really quite frustrating. In short, the Bluetooth connection remains completely unstable, cycling on/off/on/off, etc.

Second, and this seems to be a more common problem in other posts, but one I haven't yet seen a solution for, when I try to transfer the address book from my Pearl to the car, I receive a message on the Pearl saying "Unable to locate Object Push Server. Consult your manual...". Suffice it to say, the manual hasn't been much help in this regard.

The second problem, the address book, I can live with and can figure out a work-around. It's probably something to do with address book size.

The first problem though seems to be a hardware-middleware interface issue and is truly going to drive me batty. I'm led to believe from other posts (and from the really great guys at Mark Motors) that this is a Blackberry-Pearl issue, as opposed to an Audi issue. More plainly, the problem and solution are both on the BB side of the fence.

Has anyone else experienced this interface cycling on/off/on/off problem?

Thanks so much,

Ben in Ottawa.

Hi,
I have the same problem with a BB 8820 paired with a new Audi A6. It worked fine for 2 months, and now since a few days ago it does exactly what you describe: it cycles on,off,on,off every 2 or 3 minutes. I can pair others phones and they work fine, so the problem is on the BB side. I deleted all paired devices on the car and recreated the pairing, with fully charged BB battery: no change, problem re-appears. Has anyone got a suggestion?
Thank you.

Smile Audi Bluetooth pairing

Update on previous post: doing the well known "battery pull-out" (= reset) on the Blackberry resolved the problem.

Default Audi S4 bluetooth - no connection

I have a blackberry 8130 that will not connect to my 2008 Audi S4. My old blackberry(7130) connected, so I know it's not the car. Is there a fix for this? Thanks much.

I don't believe your Pearl will download its address book into the car, as if I'm not mistaken (and I'm sure the group here will source me if I'm wrong) but the Pearl (and all BBs?) don't have the Bluetooth data transfer profile enabled. Only wireless headset, handsfree, etc...

I got a similar error when attempting to DL the phonebook into my new 2008 Acura TL Type S. And then I remembered hearing somewhere that RIM secures its devices against the BT data protocol as a way to ensure that data doesn't leave devices that are in use by government or military folks.

Again, I may be way off here...but I think data xfer from a Pearl or any BB is strictly a no-go.
