Default AT&T Data with Unlocked Pearl Questions

Please Login to Remove!

Whats up folks? Sorry first post and had a question. I just bought and unlocked BB Pearl and had a question about the data plans. I was going to get the MediaMax plan from cingular but the reps there are telling me that it wont work with the Pearl unless i get the actual blackberry plan. I know from being with T-mobile they told me the same thing but it ended up working anyway and saving me 25$ a month. Has anyone tried this? Im wondering if it does work if it'll work with other smart phones/PDA's. Thanks

Hey, welcome to the BBF!

They are right. Of course, you are welcome to do as you want, try it and post back. Most you could waste would be a couple days fiddling with the settings and all.

With a Mediamax plan the data MIGHT work. If it does it is totally fluke and it wouldn't be the BlackBerry Browser. It would only be the WAP browser (carrier's version of internet). By having a BlackBerry plan it provisions the networks to say "Ok yes, this person can access BlackBerry data" and you should be able to get on. If you get it working without the BlackBerry plan and something goes wrong, don't expect the carrier to help. They lose money if they can help you get it working. The carrier will usually only help troubleshoot data problems if you are on the right plan.
