Default IMAP Gmail with Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone successfully used these steps to configure IMAP with Gmail on the blackberry?

Is there any delay with this?

Will all messages in my Gmail account appear on my phone?

Thanks!

My Gmail works instantly and perfectly. My 8100 is with AT&T. I had to set it up at the att.blackberry.com site along with four other e-mail accounts I use.

Search the forums for older threads. Nothing has changed yet.

I am not trying to be mean. (I just don't want to type the long story again ) and the olders threads had many different expierences from many different people, including myself.

End result, POP works fine IMAP was delayed 15 minutes+/-, and does sync to a desktop client (ie outlook, but will sync with webmail, there was issue with sent items here and there though.)

I haven't personally set it up but it should work fine. You just have to make sure that IMAP is enabled in your Gmail account. If you log into your Gmail and then go into Settings and then Pop and Forwarding you can enabled Gmail as either POP or IMAP. I personally haven't helped anyone do it for IMAP so I don't know if the option is there but you should be able to "Enable IMAP from now on" or for whole email inbox or whatever options are there. Have you received any of your Gmail emails on your BlackBerry Smartphone yet?

I get e-mails all the time through BIS. I would just like every e-mail to be synced between the phone and webmail.

As it is now, if I send an e-mail from my phone, it's not going to show up under Sent Items on the website.

Currently, I've been using the Gmail blackberry client to send e-mails.

If IMAP functionality works perfectly, then I'd like to enable it.

I don't think that you'll be able to get that functionality with IMAP or POP that I know of. The only thing I think you can sync between the two is when you delete email individually it should ask you if you want to delete on handheld only or on handheld and mail box. You could try BCC'ing yourself on emails when you send them from your BlackBerry though and that way they would send themselves back to you so that you have a copy of them. Yes. Just confirmed you can set it up in your BIS account if you "edit" the Gmail address and you can Auto BCC to a specific address for your account. I know if you POP enable it it'll automatically do that. A lot of people find it annoying so I'm used to helping people filter those out.

Yeah I'm currently filtering out the e-mails to myself for that very reason. It's not a huge deal if I can't get IMAP working perfectly. I just saw the article on Google's website so I didn't know if that was something new they had just put out or if people had tried it and had trouble with it.

The Gmail client on the blackberry serves my purposes.

Thanks for your help!

No problem. I haven't used the Gmail client before so I have no idea how it works. But as long as you have found a way that works for you :D
