Default 8100 os 4.2.1.96 jabra bt8040

Please Login to Remove!

Greetings everyone, this is my first post on BlackBerryForums. I'd like to thank everyone for the helpful tips and info.
I recently purchased a jabra bt8040 to pair with my pearl but there is so much crackling during a conversation I find it unusable. I'm using os 4.2.1.96 and have found other threads which indicate a possible problem with bluetooth in os 4.2.1.x . From what I've read in other threads it seems like my current solutions are to either downgrade to 4.2.0.x or wait for a future os release which will hopefully correct the problem. I'm wondering if anyone has had this same headset and os version and managed to find a solution to the problem.

I get crackling when I have the BB on one hip and the headset on the opposite ear.

I tried the headset on both sides but neither seem to correct the problem. Are you by chance using the same headset?

No, but I've experienced the crackling when the phone and headset have been on opposite sides of me.

Thanks for the quick responses!
Is there a particular brand or model of a bt headset which will work in my situation without any problems? I really liked the bt8040 because it is more comfortable than the over the ear design when wearing glasses.

I get a lot of crackling with a Moto H700 no matter how close or far it is from my Pearl. But a Samsung WEP200 and Jawbone are fine.

Incidentally, I tried two H700's and two Pearls and all were the same. I think some headsets just have a low powered bluetooth radio. All you can do is try another headset and make sure you can exchange it at the store where you buy.

I had the same issue. Below was my fix but I don't believe that 4.2.1.x has the ability to do this but there is some hope if you like the headset that it will work under some conditions when os4.5 comes out.

Thanks for the help everyone. I guess I'll have to wait for the release of 4.5 and look into a jawbone in the meantime.

Got the same problem but with Jabra BT3030. Were with 4.2 and 4.5 OS, problems with both. I have to reinitiate the pairing/connection everytime there is a disconnect.
