Default Reading Chinese Characters on my Pearl

Please Login to Remove!

Hey Everyone...I've seen many threads on this issue but nothing conclusive. I don't need to write in Chinese...just receive texts in Chinese to show to cab drivers etc...

Does anyone know the easiest way to do this? I'm in China now...but have a Pearl from the T-Mobile USA.

Thank you in advance.

I also need to read Chinese on my BB8830, although I'm in US, but I got many email from China.

Thank you in advance.

First your ROM should be multilanguage, then go to option, then SMS, then modify data coding from 7 bit to UCS2

install the two .jad files from this directory
http://crapremovethis.mit.edu/pub/bbzh/

and it should work. remove 'removethis' from the URL.

courtesy of some website i found online that i can't seem to locate again now.
then do a full reset of the device (take out the battery and then power up again) and you should be able to read chinese characters.
