Here's my story:

I had the old crappy razr (it only had aim) and it worked, I'm pretty sure I don't have the data plan and the aim messages were counting as text messages (which is ok, I have unlimited text). The point is aim worked.

My sister has a Blackberry pearl who's default messaging is OZ. Since she only used aim and not msn/yahoo/icq I'm not sure of those 3 work or not, but aim did.

So she got a new phone and gave me her blackberry. She took her sim card out, I put mine from the razr, everything seemed to be working til I tried signing on aim/msn. It goes to 80% pretty quick but hangs there (ends up failing) with a message saying something about a communication error, check your settings. I've done plenty of searches to see if others had the same problem and to find a solution. Adding wap.voicestream to TCP was one of the 'fixes', also upgrading handheld software was one. Neither worked, then I read somewhere that I should try reinstalling OZ, so I uninstalled it but I wasn't able to put it back on, the checkbox to install reinstall it simply wasn't there anymore.

What I'm hoping for is a download link to get OZ Instant Messaging back on my phone. I'm unable to use the browser to get to mobile.blackberry on the bb some reason (more like, I can't find it -sadface) Then once I get help getting that back, I still need help making it work so I can log in again.

I also read somewhere that I need to register something in host routing table, but in that option is completely empty, I can't add anything to it either. Same for service book, empty :(

Welcome to the Forum.

You don't have a Data Plan--without the Data Plan, you won't get a browser. You might get Opera Mini to work with out a Data Plan IF you enter the APN settings correctly--and even then it is not guaranteed. Your host routing table will remain empty without a Data Plan.

The APN must be entered as the full "wap.voicestream.com".

Good luck.

You need to contact TMobile and have them add "feature enabler" to your account. Then you should be able to use that OZ messenger program.

How come it worked before my sister gave me her phone? She didn't call or make any changes to the plan at all.

My APN was set to the full thing, forgot to mention the .com in the first post, sorry.

Does T-Mobile have online chat support, or do I have to call them? I see a bunch of faqs on their site, I'm assuming no chat-support.

(If anyone tried 4.5 beta, does the AIM/MSN provided with that using SMS?)

Does anyone know of any other SMS Instant Messaging program?

They may have added that for her when she got the phone. When you put your sim card in it, it provisions to your sim card. Just call TMobile on the phone and tell them you have a BB 8100 and you need the feature enabler. They can add it easily. It's not that big of a deal.
