Ok Iv searched these forums for my answers but have only found people who do not know what they are talking about. I am looking for an Aim or Msn messenger that purely uses sms text. I do not have a data plan and do not want to pay for it because I have no use for it and am not that attached to my email. I tried the oz messenger but you need data, and I have tried the ramble and that uses data as well. So does anyone know of a program for the Pearl that only uses text no data whatsoever? By the way I have T-Mobile. Thanks in advance

I'm not aware of any applications for BB OS that use SMS to send IM messages.

I think msn can be used on yahoo.

I think your only option is OZ. You do not need a paid data plan to use OZ. I have used OZ without having the data plan, I only had the "Blackberry Enabler" plan (or something like that) which was free, but allowed me to do things like MMS, and I think use OZ.

Do you already have OZ on your phone? If so, call up T-Mobile and ask them to turn on the BlackBerry Enabler plan. Can't remember the exact name of what it was called.

EDIT: maybe it was called a "BB feature enabler"? something like that.....

oh its free tho? Yes I have the OZ, it will log in now but it wont load my buddy list it will say communication error. And I read somewhere on here that you need the data plan, but I will call them and ask thanks for letting me know.

yeah, it's definitely free. when i first got my BB, i didn't want to pay for the data plan, so the t-mobile rep told me i'd need the enabler to get certain things to work.

EDIT: i used oz a few times before i got the data plan, and just a word of warning: don't expect greatness. it's very buggy and works about half the time, if that.

K thanks a lot, im gonna call soon and ask them to turn it on. Maybe they fixed the bugs by now? if not i figured out a way to get around it. You just tell your aim buddy to add your phone number (ex:+1-123-456-7890) and then they can im you and you can reply back. Only prob is tho you cant start the conversation
