Default Please help with integrating gmail onto my 8120 (ATT)

Please Login to Remove!

I've done a search here and on other forums to figure out the best way to integrate gmail into my blackberry.

There's this that I log into the BIS and configure:

Answer Center | AT&T, formerly Cingular

Then there's the gmail instructions for IMAP:

https://mail.google.com/support/bin/...y?answer=78882

Which is the better option and what are the pros and cons? I'm looking to have my gmail pushed immediately and I'd like to have it configured so that when I read a message on my computer, it's marked as read on my blackberry and vise versa. Is that possible?

Thanks for the help guys...I'm a brand new blackberry owner and things were so much less complicated on the razor.

BIS mail is best in your situation, I think. Gmail is automatically IMAP when you set it up on BIS. The delete receipts, however, do work, and can be slow when deleting from the Gmail webpage to the BB. Fairly instant deletes from the BB to the GMail. I don't recall, honestly, on the "read" reconcile, but I don't believe that is a feature.

Use the AT&T solution it works; if you have errors call 1 800 331 0500 from a landline and tell them you need to set up gmail on your BB they will transfer you quickly. Should go ok

Default Tried it both ways..have another question about IMAP

I've tried integrating gmail both ways: IMAP and through the BIS. IMAP seems to be working fine as far as the "push" goes, and if I read an email on my blackberry, it marks it read on my web email. However, It does not seem to work in the other direction: If I read a message on my web mail, my blackberry still flashes that I have a new message. Have I not set this up correctly?--or is this a known issue that can't be fixed? Or is there a way to set up the BIS so that when I read an email on the blackberry, it marks it read on the web and vise versa?

Thanks for the help.

What I would like to know is when will the Blackberry will gain the feature to natively support IMAP with all features including all folder 2-way sync and everything else.

I use an iPhone with fastmail.fm setup and it works like magic with 2-way IMAP. Once BB can offer this I will consider switching back.

I use iMobileMail, which works great with IMAP accounts like gmail. Details at http://www.imobilemail.com
