Default Need help, traveling aboard

Currently I have Sprint National plan for my blackberry Pearl and am going to Southeast Asia in a couple of weeks. I need help with:

1) unlocking the phone
2) using a sim card (is this possible with Sprint?)

Any help on how I can use my phone in Southeast Asia without setting up an international plan would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance for any help.

you cant use your 8130 overseas. You have to have the 8830. The 8130 doesnt get unlocked and doesnt have a SIM card. best to get a local phone over there with a prepaid SIM or upgrade to the World Phone (8830). Welcome to the forums

The most common cellular system worldwide is GSM. If you have a CDMA phone you're kinda screwed for foreign travel. However, my 8100 works like a champ both here in the USA as well as in Europe. The BB GSM phones are "quad band" and will work overseas. ATT gave me the unlock code for mine so I can travel and plug in a prepaid SIM wherever I am and it works just fine.
