Default WiFi Issues

Alright, New to this place and I just got my first Pearl 8120 for T-Mobile. I am having an awful time connecting to a WiFi at my school. Its password protected and I have tried everything. I dont know if this is one of those things I have to go my tech guys for or not. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes. You may need a certificate as well as the username and password. Also, there are different types of encryption and you'll have to select the right one on the BB. Talk to your IT, I'm sure they can help.

I got the Network name, WEP Key and password from our tech guys and it still wont connect. I was wondering if their is something I am missing for my phone. I dont know if I already have to upgrade or not. Its prolly still the network, but it could be the phone.

Welcome! Since your new to the Pearl, make sure you are accurately entering the WEP keys. I am sure you have realized by know that the Pearl keyboard does not always input what you expect. Go into Memo Pad and practice entering the entire WEP key to make sure you are entering the correct pass phrase.

Your OS is up to date. I switched from an 8100 to an 8120 about a week ago and have connected to multiple Wifi networks without a problem. Good luck.

you probably have to register your MAC address with the school (same thing you have to do with XboXs, Wiis, TiVo etc.)

There was no way for me to do this online like i could with the video game systems, so i had to call out tech support to have them register for me. After that it logged me in without even trying to use my user name and password :-D
