i've never actually pulled out my battery before, so i just decided to do it just for kicks, but i noticed that my device memory magically increased by a lot! did it somehow delete a bunch of stuff that i had initially, or is this actually blackberry magic?!

The BlackBerry FAQ is a wealth of knowledge for BB users. Hundreds have learned from it, including me. It's nice to have you here at BBF.

Check out the Soft Reset software available (search for it). It uses minimal memory and is much easier than the hassle of a battery pull. I think most on the board agree it's worth having on the Pearl.
